Renders

Acrylic renders are applied to a rough or uneven surface in order to produce a flat base ready to accept a final top-coat such as paint or an acrylic textured finish.

The benefits of acrylic renders vs. traditional sand and cement render are:

  1. Greater control over the setting time of your render.  As an example, acrylic setting time is around 48 hours and traditional sand and cement is 28 days.  This saves on scaffold time and quickens the building process.
  2. Acrylic renders are hydrophobic - they reduce water being sucked up the wall which can create problems with wet walls & peeling paint.
  3. There is a choice of finishes ranging from coarse, medium and fine, and also a choice of setting times depending on your environment.

Acrylic renders are suitable for interior and exterior use over all standard masonry substrates such as clay bricks, concrete blocks and polystyrene building products.

At RTP we stock 3 of the leading acrylic render manufacturers – Rockcote, Render Systems Australia and MAC Render.

render systems

RSA Masonry Renders contain unique powdered bonding agents which:

  • speeds up and simplifies the on-site mixing process;
  • increases adhesion to all suitable, properly prepared substrates;
  • guarantees the correct amount of bond every time - whether applied by hand or machine.
With RSA Masonry Render range
(MR 180, 120, 60) you can choose
the set time to suit your environment:

MR 180
Formulated to provide:-
A long hang time on the wall with a 3 hr pot life.

  • The most popular render for trowel applications.
  • A suitable render for use in warm or hot weather.
  • Great for big drops and broad wall applications

MR 120
Formulated to provide:-
A moderate hang time on the wall with 2 hr+ pot life.

  • The most popular render for pump applications.
  • Often used in a one coat application.
  • An all purpose render suitable for all seasons.

.

MR 60
Formulated to provide:-
A short hang time on the wall with a 1 hr pot life.

  • Ideal for small jobs and where there is a need to get in and out fast.
  • A suitable render for use in the cool to warm months.
  • Suitable for experienced plasterer/s or crews.

. Traditional Render
Traditional Render is a "fine finish" pre-bonded, polymer modified cement based render which requires only the addition of clean water. Like Masonry Render, Traditional Render contains unique bonding agents which increase adhesion, speed up and simplify the on-site mixing process and guarantee the same quality, integrity and longevity of the render.

Traditional Render has excellent floating and finishing qualities and can be over-coated with all acrylic textures and paints.

Traditional Render is suitable for interior and exterior use and can be applied by hand or machine.

EP Render

EP Render is a high quality, polymer modified, cement based render which requires only the addition of clean water. Developed for application by hand or machine, EP Render is suitable for use over RSA approved polystyrene building systems, AAC Hebel and masonry substrates.

EP Render has been developed to deal with the increased movement associated with Polystyrene substrates, providing:

  • A less rigid formulation (slightly less cement) than conventional pre-bagged renders.
  • Softer less rigid bonding agents (glue).
  • Well graded sand for a more compacted render formulation improving impact resistance and strength (when compared with conventional pre-bagged renders).
  • Improved cohesion of render.
  • Long term coating integrity for masonry and lightweight substrates when used as part of a full RSA coating system.

Suitable for interior and exterior use, EP Render has an extended "hang time" for greater productivity and high early hardness, anti sag formulation for faster straightening, excellent "come back" qualities for quicker, easier floating, as well as increased adhesion and cohesion for long term peace of mind.
